If you have ADHD, you can surely imagine the rabbit holes I went down when choosing a name for my business. So why Squirrel to Success?
First of all, I love squirrels, and if I need to spend hours working on a project I need dopamine to maintain focus and motivation - and quite frankly the squirrels deliver. But more than this, I love them as a metaphor for the ADHD brain and for the ADHDer in general... the frantic moving in different directions, the scurrying to and fro with their precious acorns, not to mention their enormous resourcefulness, intelligence and general adorability.
Success is defined as the achievement of something you have been trying to do. And I repeat - what YOU have been trying to do, or, wanting to do. ADHDers are not short of willpower; we do not struggle with trying hard. But, we have been told for so long to 'just try harder' when required to do something in a way that doesn't suit us, that worst of all we end up saying this to ourselves.
My experience of being coached and coaching others has taught me that it is easier to take off our masks when we understand our brains and develop our own ways of coping and succeeding in the world we live in. It is my sincere hope that I can help you to navigate this path, to use all of your squirrel assets and turn them into your very own successes.
